Pop Art

For this assignment we had to take a photo of ourself in photo booth, then edit it in photoshop. It demonstrated a lot of photoshops different capabilities and familiarized us with the use of the tools in photoshop.

Overall I thought this was a very fun assignment and I had a lot of fun doing it. It showed me how to use a lot of the different tools that photoshop has to offer. I look forward to using photoshop to edit my pictures, and create some great edited pictures.

Photo Assignment 1 - Architecture

For this assignment I chose the subject of architecture to take photos. I used pictures that would highlight different abstract features, in possible buildings, and/or structures that I was around, while in Florida, and my trip to Detroit. Most of the photos came from Florida while I was on vacation there.

ISO 800
F3.5
1/640

I really learned a lot from this assignment. I took a lot of pictures of buildings and then finally got the touch for a nice photograph of a otherwise boring picture of a building. I figured out how to make a picture of a building more than what it is. I played with aperture, and ISO settings to get the perfect picture. I have also applied my knowledge of shot types to this assignment as well. Overall it was well worth it and i enjoyed it a lot.

Shooting assignment 1 inspiration

For my first photo assignment I have chosen to focus on the subject of architecture. The reason that i chose this subject was architecture is really interesting and here in ann arbor we have a lot of old interesting buildings that i would like to get some great photographs from.

Here are some of he photos that  I found for inspiration

Melbourne Buildings
Simple Chair
and
Design

I think the above examples are a great demonstration for architecture. They all have a form of simplicity to them that drastically changes the mood of the photo. I would love to learn how to take photo's that look like that. You can play around with black and white contrasting to make for an absolute interesting picture of a building.

Elements of Composition

Assignment Description

For this assignment we had to take photos for the 6 elements of composition. The elements include Rule of thirds, Pattern, Symmetry, Texture, Depth of field and Lines. For the second composition assignment we had to take photos for the next 5 elements that we learned they include: Framing, Perspective, Space, Balance and Color.

Slideshow 1

Lines- Bricks on the wall in the hallway
Depth of field- Lights on my truck
Texture- Fire light in the hallway
Pattern-a box filled with jellybeans
Rule of thirds- The fire light in the hallway positioned in the upper left third
Symmetry- The staircase at school
Balance- My Mustang near 2 doors
Color- My Red Mustang against green foliage
Framing- A tree on the beach in Florida
Perspective- Rim on Corvette
Space- A palm tree

I learned many things from this assignment, for rule of thirds, I learned how to position the subject in regards to the lines on the grid. For pattern I learned how to focus on an object to emphasize the subject. For symmetry you need good composition as well as a perfect focal point. For texture I noted that you could add a lot of emphasis to a photo if you add the proper focus on the photo. As for the depth of field if you use a focus on an object close up and blur the background then you can achieve a focused point in the photo.
